4 Hidden Hangout Gems with Great Wi-Fi in Ubud, Bali

May 16, 2015

The beauty of Ubud is not only its tropical beauty and friendly locals. For some reason, Ubud is also very conducive for working. Opening up your laptop while in the middle of the ricefields might seem counterintuitive – but trust me, it would be one of your most productive and inspiring work sessions ever! I’ve personally worked out of these cafes before and tested their Wi-Fi.

Otherwise, these 4 spots are also great for taking a leisurely beer or a cold cup of cold brewed coffee between temple hopping. Oh did I also mention, two of these places – Pomegranate Cafe and Clear Cafe – are insanely instagrammable?

1. Pomegranate Cafe

Pomegranate-CafeThis place was recommended to me first by an Ubud local when I asked him where to catch the best sunsets. And boy, its 360 degree panoramic view of the sunset did not disappoint. It is about a 15 minute trekΒ from the main road in Ubud, through narrow and winding, but spectacular rice fields. You won’t miss it – it’s the cafe in a large, safari-like tent. Come here for beers during sunset and some light bites. They also have free wi-fi so you can Instagram this amazing place πŸ˜‰

Location: Jl. Subak Sok Wayah, Ubud, Bali. This place is slightly tricky to find, so ask the locals.
I recommend:Β Going there for some sunset beers.

2. Seniman

SenimanThe cafe for serious coffee drinkers in Ubud, Seniman serves undoubtedly the best coffee experience. From the freshly roasted Balinese coffee to the unique furniture (playful rocking chairs, anyone?), this place is a million lightyears better that their more touristy competitor, Anomali Coffee. Try getting a seat in their outdoor terrace and watch the daily life of locals passing by while you load up your Mac. Plus their rocking chairs are great fun to sit on! Their Wi-Fi is one of the speediest in town, which makes it ideal for working. Just remember to bring headphones if you’re planning to do a bit of work as it tends to get noisy.

Location: Jalan Sriwedari, Ubud, Bali 80561
I recommend: Any of their coffees, their Cold Brew Coffee, and any of their breakfast items. I haven’t found one thing I didn’t enjoy here. P.s. Every order of coffee is served with a traditional Indonesian snack.

3. Clear Cafe

Clear-CafeClear’s original location is actually on Hanoman Road – one of the main roads in Ubud town – but unfortunately the place burnt down last December. But of course there’s a silver lining to everything – due to the fire, they have temporarily relocated to a beautiful, colorful and spacious three-storied place with a breathtaking view of the Campuhan river until the rebuilding process is complete. My boyfriend and I fell in love with this place and came back three times in a row! It’s such a breezy, bright and cozy space – fitted with power plugs everywhere and incredibly fast Wi-Fi. Quirky colors and wall art, married with vibrant furniture colors, makes for great photos. If you need to get productive while in Ubud, Clear Cafe will be your best bet.

Location: Jalan Raya Campuhan, Ubud, Bali
I recommend: Breakfast Burrito, Sunshine Tuna, Kombucha Tea

4. Atman

Atman-KafeIn terms of its quality of food, you can check outΒ my other article. In terms of Wi-Fi, Atman has remarkably fast internet for Bali, which I tried and tested with two consecutive days of using it as a working hub. It never gets too crowded either, and most guests tend to be on the quieter side. Definitely ideal for a bit of work or a long leisurelyΒ lunch in Ubud center.

Location: Jalan Hanoman 38, Ubud, Bali 80571
I recommend: The Cold Brew Coffee and Dadar Gulung

Hope you enjoy these gems! As usual, let me know if there other chill placesΒ with good Wi-Fi in Ubud!
